Waste management is governed by various laws and regulations. The duties of the waste management authority are primarily regulated by the Waste Act (646/2011) (www.finlex.fi). In the Vaasa region, waste management is also governed by municipal waste management regulations.
The Vaasa Region waste management regulations entered into force on 1 June 2022. These regulations specify how waste management must be organized within the service area.
